Juliet Marine Systems has unveiled GHOST, a new marine platform that is designed to deal with piracy.

The platform has the ability to conduct long-range security patrols at high speeds and will be able operate for several days at sea.

GHOST can use non-lethal or lethal weapons, depending on situational requirements.

The new platform is designed to be sea-based in squadrons from a larger ship that would act as a home base for security patrols and could be placed offshore close to the area of operations.

Piracy is growing at a rate of about 10% per year, with Somalia alone reporting 33 ships hijacks and 711 hostages, according to ICC IMB.
