Ship machinery and propulsion manufacturer Wärtsilä has opened a manufacturing technology centre (MTC) in Vaasa, Finland.

The MTC will help the company develop its core manufacturing competencies including casting, welding and assembly automation.

Development of its digital manufacturing technologies will also be carried out at the facility.

The technology centre reduces costs, increases quality and enables faster test component deliveries, the company said.

The 600m2 centre also offers 50 training courses a year.
