MSC Cruises has used green technologies to build its new cruise ship, MSC Splendida, due to be launched in July.

The Splendida has various environmentally friendly features including a five-stage advanced wastewater treatment plant that processes all wastewater produced onboard.

The ship also uses innovative stateroom monitoring system technology in the staterooms and public areas to provide an almost 25% reduction in onboard energy use, the company said

The green technologies are expected to significantly reduce the impact on the marine environment, the company said.
