Oakajee Port and Rail (OPR) has hired project management company WorleyParsons to deliver port construction services for the Oakajee bulk project based in Western Australia.

As part of the deal, WorleyParsons will include a budget and engineering study that involves the supervision of design and engineering for the deepwater port for OPR’s Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS).

The study also incorporates a related heavy haulage rail network.

“The company’s appointment will support the timely completion of the BFS and maintain our momentum in delivering this nationally significant project,” OPR chief executive Christopher Eves said.

The OPR team plan to carry out business analysis, project financing and land tenure amongst other responsibilities to carry the project forward.

Staff from OPR will collaborate with the project management team of WorleyParsons for planning and design work, the company said.
