The Port of Los Angeles, US, has been selected for a $2m revamp, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced.

The project involves powering and retrofitting 27 pieces of equipment, including harbour craft, portworld.com reports.

The EPA said the renovation would lead to a significant reduction in greenhouse gases, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter.

The investment has been granted under the American Reinvestment & Recovery Act of 2009.
