Global marine company DryShips has acquired Primelead by purchasing the remaining 25% of total outstanding shares in the company.

The major assets of Primelead comprise four drillship contracts as well as two ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs, the Leiv Eiriksson and Eirik Raude.

Contractual delivery dates for the drillships start from the last quarter of 2010 up to the end of third quarter 2011.

Primelead also owns Ocean Rig, which supervises the operational, commercial and technical features of the six drilling rigs.
