Australia’s Gladstone Port Authority has revealed plans to expand Port Alma, located in central Queensland, Australia.

The authority’s chief executive Leo Zussino said the company has been given rights to build a coal terminal by mining giant Xstrata and plans to create a major coal export facility with capacity for 30 million tonnes of coal.

Zussino said the middle harbour is being investigated for a coal exporting terminal by Xstrata coal, which is tied to the development of the Wandoan mine in the Surat Basin.
