The Edison Chouest family of companies have announced plans to design and build a series of 12 5,300dwt diesel-electric offshore supply vessels.

The 300ft deepwater vessels will run on diesel and electricity to meet all IMO regulations and new emissions standards and will have four 1,700kW generators that power two 2,500kW variable speed electric motors and four 1,050kW tunnel thrusters.

In comparison to the current series, the new fleet design is 20ft longer.

The deck cargo capacity expands to 11,000ft² from 10,000ft² and deadweight tonnage expands to 5,300 LT from 4,750 LT.

The new design also offers more tankage opportunities for specialised chemical products, the company said.
