CSAV Delays Vessel Orders

Chilean shipping firm CSAV is to delay vessel orders at CSBC, Taiwan and Samsung Heavy Industries, South Korea.

The company has changed the earlier order of four 12,600TEU containerships at Samsung to five 8,000TEU vessels.

Originally scheduled to be delivered between 2010 and 2011, the vessels will be delivered between 2011 and 2012.

At a new total of $625m, CSAV will save $19m, the company said.

CSAV has also negotiated a seven-month delay for three 6,600TEU vessels on order at CSBC. The vessels are now slated for delivery between April 2010 and April 2011.
