The National Iranian Tanker Company has received its third 319,000dwt Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) from Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).

The handover completed a wider series of 17 double-hull tankers, four scaled-down Suezmaxes and 13 VLCCs, ordered by NITC in June 2005 from four different Korean yards.

Despite the work begin carried out across DSME, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and Hyundai Heavy Industries, all ships were constructed with a common design, seatradeasia-online.com reports.

The vessels incorporate advanced environmental and safety features that cost 9% more in comparison to normal yard prices.

The SHI- and DSME-built tankers offer low vibration and noise levels.
