Bisso Towboat shipping firm has received its 4,000 HP ASD tug built constructed at Main Iron Works, Houma, in the US state of Louisiana.

The vessel, Michael S, is 100ft long and 38ft wide. It is powered by two Cat 3516B main engines, producing 2,000hp each at 1,600RPM, which drive two Ulstein-Aquamaster US205 MK2 z-drives, Bisso said.

The Z-drives in the tug feature 90.6in diameter by 82.4in pitch four blade stainless steel propellers set in stainless steel nozzles, marinelink.com reports.

The tug is the third ASD tractor vessel built for Bisso by Main Iron Works and increases Bisso’s fleet of ship-assist tugs to 12.
