Australian shipbuilder Strategic Marine has signed a deal with Bhagwan Marine to build a landing craft.

The 159ft vessel, designed by International Maritime Consultants, will be used in Western Australia’s north-west hydrocarbon province to accommodate low-incline beach landings, the company said.

The multicargo vessel can accommodate 10ft-20ft containers with a maximum payload of 400t and has a 42ft beam.

The vessel will primarily be used to transfer building and construction equipment in the areas around Dampier, Onslow and Barrow Island.
