The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is providing S$2m to Ecospec Global Technology to co-fund a project to reduce harmful ship emissions.

Ecospec will test CSNOx, an advanced emission reduction technology which uses sea water with an electrical method to convert CO2 in natural bicarbonates, the MPA said.

The CSNOx test-bedding project is supported under the $100m MINT Fund set up in 2003 to encourage research and development of maritime technologies by universities, research institutes and companies in Singapore.
