Plans to build a terminal at the Port of Los Angeles has been approved by US Harbor officials.

The $1.2bn plan includes an eight-mile promenade, a new cruise ship terminal and other developments to the port.

The LA Board of Harbor Commissioners has also certified an environmental impact report for the plan that aims to draw walkers and shoppers to the industrial port complex.

The proposal has been opposed by some residents who oppose the construction of the new cruise ship terminal, claiming it will spoil the scenery at the area’s beach.
