Finnish marine services provider Wartsila Corporation and Zhuhai Yuchai Marine Power have signed an agreement to produce and sell low-speed marine diesel engines.
The joint venture will enable Zhuhai to produce all sizes of Wartsila RT-flex low-speed engine types, focusing on engines of 35 to 50cm cylinder bore at its factory in Zhuhai City, Guangdong province, China.
Zhuhai will use Wartsila’s common-rail technology to make the engines which incorporate full electronic control of engine processes.
The first engines are expected to be completed in November 2011.
