The Port of Everett in the US has awarded an on-call engineering contract to WorleyParsons Westmar for its $43.1m South Terminal Intermodal Freight project.

As part of the deal, the engineering firm will modernise the port’s dock, improve rail and yard functions and install high-voltage power systems which will allow ships to plug into shore power while at port.

The project is dependent on the successful grant award by the US Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant programme, the port said.

If the port is awarded the TIGER grant, WorleyParsons Westmar may be used to provide construction support services for the developmental phases of the project.
