Seaspan Corporation said it has taken the delivery of a 5,100teu containership from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The delivery of MOL Emissary is the seventh for the company this year and expands its fleet to 42 vessels.
Seaspan said the vessel is the third of four to be provided on a 12-year charter to Mitsui OSK Lines, Japan.
The company said it also expects to deliver its fourth 5,100teu to MOL in coming months and the remaining 25 vessels promised under contract thereafter.
Seaspan’s contracted fleet of 68 consists of 42 containerships in operation and 26 containerships to be delivered over the next 30 months.
