Polys Sells Aframax Tanker to Start Fleet

Polys Haji-Ioannou has sold one of a series of Aframax newbuild tankers for $52.5m to a Chinese company, according to reports. Chinese bunker player Brightoil Petroleum has acquired a 107,500dwt tanker and plans to form a fleet of eight ships including 5,000dwt bunker tankers and VLCCs

Polys Haji-Ioannou has sold one of a series of Aframax newbuild tankers for $52.5m to a Chinese company, according to reports.

Chinese bunker player Brightoil Petroleum has acquired a 107,500dwt tanker and plans to form a fleet of eight ships including 5,000dwt bunker tankers and VLCCs.

The ship was bought from Liberia-registered Nisos Shipping Company, which owns the Aframax tanker Nisos.

The ship is commercially managed by Haji-Ioannou’s Polyar Tankers in Oslo, according to the Nisos Shipping Company’s website.

Polyar Tankers is building six 107,500dwt Aframax tankers at Japan’s Tsuneishi Shipyard with deliveries in 2010.

Brightoil’s parent company has already an orderbook of 20 6,300dwt bunker tankers.
