ZIM Slow Steaming to Cut Carbon Emissions

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services will deploy super-slow steaming in two of its services to save fuel and reduce CO2 and NOx emissions. The steaming will start on the Zim Container Service (ZCS) and East Mediterranean Express Service (EMX) in the coming weeks, the company said.

The steaming will start on the Zim Container Service (ZCS) and East Mediterranean Express Service (EMX) in the coming weeks, the company said.

ZIM said it will add an extra 4,250teu vessel to services increasing the ZCS and EMX fleet size to 16 and 11 vessels, respectively.

During its sail, ZCS will cover Haifa, Piraeus, Livorno, Genoa, Halifax, New York, Kingston, Panama Canal, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Busan.

EMX will sail through Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen (Dachan Bay) Port Kelang, Haifa, Suez, Port Kelang and Xiamen.
