Cargo Volumes Drop in Romanian Seaports

The total volume of cargo handled through the Romanian seaports based in Constanta, Mangalia and Midia has dropped by 33% year-on-year.

Data released by the National Company Maritime Ports Administration SA Constanta showed cargo volumes totalled about 38.3 million tonnes of cargo between January and November 2009.

The port officials estimate that total volume of merchandise standing will be nearly 42t by the year end, according to financiarul.ro.

Figures in the report show that the Constanta port handled 3.5 million tonnes of non-ferrous scrap and solid fuels from January to November 2009, compared with 10.9 million tonnes during the same period a year ago.
