Coal exports at Australia’s Newcastle port have increased by 11%, while the length of the queue of vessels waiting to load remains stable.
Exports rose from 1.83 million tons to 2.04 million tons last week, the Newcastle Port Corporation said on its website.
But the queue of 55 vessels waiting to load 4.36 million tonnes of coal was unchanged from the previous week.
A total of 60 vessels queued in December 2009, which was the longest line since July 2007, according to Bloomberg.
A week earlier, coal ships queued to load for an average of 18.95 days, from 15.79 days.
