Lamprell to Deliver Turbine Installation Vessels

Fred Olsen Windcarrier AS has awarded two contracts worth $320.4m to engineering company Lamprell for self-elevating vessels for the installation of offshore wind turbines. Under the contract, Lamprell will perform work associated with the design, construction and delivery of a Gusto MSC

Fred Olsen Windcarrier AS has awarded two contracts worth $320.4m to engineering company Lamprell for self-elevating vessels for the installation of offshore wind turbines.

Under the contract, Lamprell will perform work associated with the design, construction and delivery of a Gusto MSC NG-9000 design self-elevating and self-propelled offshore wind turbine installation vessels.

The 14,000t vessels will be equipped with dynamic positioning, high-speed jacking systems, an 800Te crane and a rotary propulsion system.

Each vessel can accommodate 80 personnel and sail at a speed of 12kt with a payload capacity of in excess of 5,000Te.

Work will be carried out at Lamprell’s Jebel Ali facility and will be delivered in second and third quarters of 2012.

Lamprell and Windcarrier have also executed an option agreement for two additional vessels with exercise periods of 12 months and 18 months respectively.
