The Port of Marseille has granted Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) the right to develop its container terminal, Fos 4XL, worth €600m ($811m).

Hong Kong-based HPH will develop the terminal as a twin platform in the Mediterranean, linking its Rotterdam facilities by a multimodal network, the company said.

The terminal is expected to provide an additional capacity of one million teu in Marseille Fos.

Commercial operations are expected to start after 2017-18.
