India Unveils Port Expansion Plan

India is planning to spend Rs140,000m ($3bn) on 21 port-expansion projects this year, the government has announced. The projects, under public-private-partnership, are expected to increase the country's cargo handling capacity by 200 million tons (MT), reports India's Business Standard

Capacity is set to increase from 574MT to 816MT by March 2012, the government said.
