BG Group said it will build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers at a Chinese shipyard with a scheduled delivery for 2014.

The agreement will be signed after the company finalises contracts with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to ship LNG from Australia to China, according to asiasis.com.

CNOOC is expected to have a 10% stake in the project and the gas carriers.

BG Group has secured gas shipment agreements for up to 8.3 million tons a year of LNG exports from the Queensland Curtis project.
