SPP Tops in Kamsarmax Newbuild Order

SPP Shipbuilding and its sister company SPP Plant & Shipbuilding have signed 19 ship contracts worth around $660m in the first quarter of this year.

SPP yards received a total of 14 Kamsarmax (82,000dwt class) orders including four booked by Turkey’s Active, two by UK-based Anglo Swiss and one with General Maritime of Greece.

The yards have also won five Handysize 35,000dwt bulker orders including two from Herald Holdings, Switzerland.

The shipowners ordered the nine bulkers (seven Kamsarmaxes and two Handysizes) in late March for $310m.
