GEMS International has acquired a vessel for hydrographic coastal, port and harbour surveys and nearshore investigations.

Fitted with a Simrad EM3002 multibeam and singlebeam system, the MV Sylt can accommodate a crew of seven and features geophysical, geotechnical and oceanographic equipment.

GEMS International NV nearshore division manager Kurt Huygelier said the ship will perform long-term survey contracts for ports and harbours, inland waterways and wind farm site surveys.
