Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter contract with miner BHP Billiton for its Capesize dry bulk carrier Sideris GS at a daily rate of $30,500 for up to 30 months.

The contract is expected to generate approximately $26m for the minimum scheduled period of the charter, the company said in a statement.

The 174,186dwt Sideris GS will start operations on 16 October.
