DP Extends Mozambique Port Operation

DP World has signed an agreement to extend a concession to operate the port of Maputo in Mozambique for 15 years.
The company, along with DP World Maputo, currently holds the concession to operate the container terminal at the port until 2018.
Maputo Port, located on Africa’s south-eastern coast, acts as the main terminus for land-locked African regions such as Gauteng province in South Africa, Swaziland, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Mocambique, Mozambique’s ports and railway authority, holds a 40% share of the operating company.
The 15-year concession has been secured with an option of a ten-year extension.
