The state-owned company has already ordered 30 vessels for INR9,1500m ($2bn) and plans to order 30 more by 2015.
SCI, which currently owns 76 ships of 5.1 million dwt and manages 60 vessels of 0.2 million dwt, expects to take delivery of the ships between 2014 and 2015.
After the acquisition, SCI’s capacity is expected to increase to 12 million dwt.
