Keppel Wins Marine Deals

Keppel Offshore and Marine has signed contracts worth S$50m ($35m) to build three transshipment barges and to upgrade a drill ship. The barges are being built for Indonesia’s PT Mitra Bahtera Segarasejati and PT Pelayaran Kartika Samudra Adijaya and are slated for completion in 2010.

Keppel’s Singapore subsidiary Keppel Singmarine has also clinched a contract from PT Indo Straits to build a transshipment barge that is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2011.

The shipping operator said all three barges will be deployed in Indonesian waters to load and discharge coal between vessels during open sea transshipping operations.
