Tanzania to Expand Dar Es Salaam Port

Tanzania will build a second container terminal at Dar Es Salaam Port to ease congestion caused by increased traffic at the existing terminal. The $450m facility will have a capacity to accommodate 600,000 containers while the existing terminal has a capacity to handle 250,000-310,000.

The terminal will be constructed in the Kurasini area and is expected to cut the current unloading time from 11 days to five.
