Hellenic Carriers has ordered two 82,000dwt Kamsarmax vessels from Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding for $68.4m.
The company said the first vessel is scheduled to be delivered in January 2013, followed by the second in March 2013.
It said the shipyard has also granted an option, to be declared by 1 September, for a third vessel with delivery in May 2013.
The acquisition of the vessels is part of the company’s fleet renewal and expansion programme.
Hellenic said it is planning to secure up to 65% bank financing for the delivery of the vessels and is in talks with interested banks.
