Noble Corporation has completed the acquisition of Frontier Drilling, an independent drilling company, for $2.16bn.

The Switzerland-based offshore drilling firm said the acquisition enabled Noble to own and operate a dynamically positioned floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

The acquisition of Frontier and recent contracts with Shell have increased Noble’s fleet size to 69 from 62 drilling vessels.

The new vessels include three dynamically positioned drillships (including two Bully Class rigs under construction), two conventionally moored drillships and a deep-water semi-submersible drilling rig.
