Keppel FELS, the offshore arm of Keppel, said the company has formed a joint venture with Seafox to build a $220m wind turbine installation vessel.

The company said its multi-purpose self-elevating platform can operate in waters 45% deeper than existing wind turbine installation vessels.

The joint venture is expected to take delivery of the platform in the second half of 2012 when it will be managed and operated by Workfox, a member of the Seafox Group.

Seafox also has the option of acquiring Keppel’s stake in the joint venture.
