Carnival Corporation has signed an agreement with Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany to build a 71,300t cruise ship for its AIDA Cruises brand.
Carnival said the 2,192-passenger vessel is expected to cost the company €150,000 per lower berth.
The vessel is the seventh ship order by the German cruise operator in the past six years and is scheduled to enter service in 2013.
Carnival Corporation operates 97 ships with ten vessels to be delivered by 2014, it said.
