Royal Boskalis Westminster has secured a €155m ($199.2m) contract for the capital and maintenance dredging of Soyo LNG port in Angola.
The Netherlands-based company said the capital dredging work includes deepening and widening a 4.5km access channel and port basins and the removal of around 11 million cubic metres of sand and clay.
Boskalis will also provide the port with hydrographic and land surveying activities for the installation and management of navigation aids.
The project work will be carried out with medium-sized hoppers and capital dredging is scheduled to be completed by mid-2011, the company said.
Boskalis said optional maintenance work of the access channel and basins is expected to run from early 2012 until early 2014.
