Belgium’s DEME will provide dredging services as part of the construction of an Olympic village for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

DEME said the €105m project involves the transportation of eight million cubic metres of sand from the Black Sea.

The project is being developed for the Russian state corporation SC Olympstroy, which is managing the design, construction, renovation and operation of the venues.

Dredging work will run for 14 months, according to dredgingtoday.com.
