China’s Port of Tianjin is planning to invest $1.95bn to expand its facilities to accommodate large ships and handle more cargo.

The port will construct a logistics network, which will includes 16 dry ports, according to portsworld.com.

Tianjin Port aims to achieve 400 million metric tons of total cargo throughput, though it has not given any time frame.

The port is also looking to begin trial operations in its $52m petrochemical terminal by 2010.
