Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller will invest €12m ($16.5m) to set up a plant in Jiangsu province, China, to manufacture controllable pitch propellers for the Chinese shipping industry.

Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller is a joint venture between Wärtsilä and Zhenjiang CME, a subsidiary of China Sate Shipbuilding Corporation.

Wärtsilä said the investment includes the construction of an 8,000m2 factory at an existing fixed pitch propellers factory in China.

The plant is expected to start production in the second quarter of 2011.
