The facility boasts 16,000m2 of working area and water depths of 10m, capable of accommodating large vessels.
The quay has a heavy lift capability of 500t and is capable of skid ashore up to 2,500t.
The project is expected to increase the port authority’s revenue by 20% by 2012, and contribute £12m ($18m) to the local economy of the north-east, according to dredging today.com.
