Eastern Shipbuilding Group has secured a contract from US-based O’Hara Corporation to build a freezer stern trawler fishing vessel.
Based on the ST-115 design from Norway’s Skipsteknisk, the new vessel will have a length of 59.13m, breadth of 14.94m, depth of 5.90m and will have an efficient hull shape that minimises hull resistance and increases fuel efficiency.
The new vessel will be built to DNV classification rules including +1A1, Stern Trawler, E0 Notation for hull, and DNV ICE 1B designed, outfitted and inspected for operations in harsh cold environmental conditions.
Designed to accommodate about 54 people, the vessel will also be equipped with new systems for bottom and pelagic trawling with single trawl.
Winch systems provider Rapp Hydema will supply electrically driven winches that can also regenerate power.
The new vessel, to be called Aharo, is scheduled to be delivered in mid-2015 and will be the sixth fishing vessel delivered to O’Hara by the Eastern Shipbuilding Group.
The vessel’s main processing equipment will include several types of fish heading machines and factory systems, comprising transport systems, fish graders, storage tanks, weighing graders, weighing systems, packing tables, packing machines, automatic horizontal freezer systems and block elevators.
Aharo will also be equipped with three working cranes for several onboard operations and one aft deck crane to work during fishing operations.
The vessel’s 360° deck crane with a telescopic boom will have a lifting capacity of 6,400 pounds and a maximum working radius of 35ft.
Valley Power Systems is providing one EMD MEL16-710G7 Tier 3 diesel engine rated at 4,000hp at 900rpm to be equipped on the new vessel.
