The new equipment is intended for general cargo and intermodal operation at the ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG terminals at Wolfurt, Wels and Wien Süd in Austria.

Delivery of the equipment is scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter of this year. Terminal Service Austria (TSA), a business division of ÖBB-Infrastruktur has a Kalmar fleet in operation.

TSA divisional managing director Andreas Fuchs said: "The technical service support we receive locally from Kalmar Austria helps us to offer our customers the best service.

"This enables Terminal Service Austria to guarantee a perfect co-ordination of shippers, freight forwarders, operators and railway undertakings."

With this new deal, Terminal Wels in upper Austria will be able to replace two Kalmar DRD 450-80 C5XS reachstackers, which have been operational since 2000.

In April, Kalmar received an order from Algerian port procurement firm Groupement D’Interêt Commun Des Entreprises Portuaires (GICEP) to deliver cargo handling equipment to six locations in Algeria.
