Canada’s Port Saint John has selected maritime solutions provider Klein Systems to install its KleinPort port management information system.
Located in New Brunswick, Port Saint John is Eastern Canada’s largest port by tonnage and has a diverse cargo base, including dry and liquid bulk, break bulk, containers and cruise.
The new system will enable the port to manage and track its operational activities and cargo data, invoice for services and perform in depth data analysis and reporting.
Port Saint John President and CEO Jim Quinn said: "Port Saint John saw a clear need for a new Port Management Information System…
"Klein impressed us as having the combination of a comprehensive, proven solution, industry experience and track record of successful projects to most effectively meet our requirements."
Recently, the port deployed the SmartATLANTIC Saint John inshore weather buoy, a technology that provides real-time weather and directional wave information.
This new technology will help the marine transportation community, commercial fishers, recreational boaters, meteorologists, researchers and scientists.
In addition, it will help guide marine pilots, terminal operators and ship masters in the planning and decision-making for scheduling port arrivals, departure times, as well as loading and discharging cargo.
In December last year, Klein Systems entered into an agreement with the Papua New Guinea Ports Corporation to upgrade its existing Klein system to the latest version of KleinPort.
The technology includes advanced features for vessel scheduling, resource management, billing and reporting and also provides a comprehensive web interface for port customers in Papua New Guinea.
