OSX Brasil has won a $732m order from Kingfish do Brasil Navegacao to build 11 medium-range tanker ships.
Each vessel will be of 45,000 dwt and will be built at OSX’s Acu port complex, which is under construction in northern Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Scheduled to be delivered in 2017, the vessels will be used for transportation of oil and clear products, and upon delivery the ships will be chartered by Kingfish to Petrobras.
OSX CEO Luiz Eduardo Guimarães Carneiro said that fourteen shipbuilding projects now comprise the company’s task list at its Açu Shipbuilding Unit.
"Our team will build, in São João da Barra, 11 MR tankers for Kingfish, 1 PLSV for Sapura Seadrill and realize the integration of FPSOs OSX-4 and OSX-5 for OGX," Carneiro said.
Kingfish do Brasil provides logistics and marine transportation solutions to the Brazilian oil and gas market by means of cabotage and long haul shipping.
Last month, the company won a $263m contract from Sapura Navegação Marítima to build one PLSV (Pipe-Laying Support Vessel), which will be used for laying and installing flexible pipelines on the seabed.
