Dutch shipping company Imtech Marine’s Radio Holland has secured a contract from BW Fleet Management (BWFM) to provide services for navigation and communication equipments on 13 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers.

As part of the two-year service agreement, Radio Holland will also provide remote support for the vessels.

BWFM is a tanker, gas and offshore maritime firm with technical responsibility for more than 50 vessels, including very large crude carriers (VLCCs), long-range 1 product tankers (LR 1s), liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and LPG carriers.

The company operates a fleet of 150 vessels, which include crude oil supertankers, refined oil tankers, LNG and LPG carriers, chemical tankers and floating production storage and offloading units.

BW Fleet Management electro automation superintendent Hans Lange said: "As part of regular efforts to streamline internal work processes, we decided to issue service contracts for navigation and communication systems, for a dedicated number of vessels, to a fixed partner.

"This will allow us to have a single point of contact, increase efficiency and…pursue other work improvement initiatives."

"This will allow us to have a single point of contact, increase efficiency and release resources to pursue other work improvement initiatives."

Radio Holland is currently evaluating the navigation and communication equipment on the vessels, to assess BWFM in upgrades or replacements.

Imtech Marine / Radio Holland Norway technical manager / radio surveyor Jan Erik Skjonsberg said: "The new service agreement gives BWFM the benefits of fixed hourly rates worldwide so the company can plan its maintenance budget."

The company has been offering support for the BWFM’s long-range identification and tracking (LRIT) systems and GMDSS equipment.
