Norway-based supplier of modern offshore support vessels Simon Møkster Shipping has entered into a deal with Astilleros Gondan for the construction of a new platform supply vessel (PSV).

The new offshore service ship will be the sister vessel to another PSV that is currently under construction at same yard.

The latest move by the company is in-line with its strategy to focus on environmentally friendly and advanced PSVs in cold areas.

The new PSV will feature the UT-776 WP design and will be used for operations in the harsh weather conditions of northern areas.

With an overall length of 93m and breadth of 20m, the ship will feature a Unified Bridge, NOFO, Standby, and all other equipment that the sister vessel holds.

Additionally, the new vessel will have FIFI-II and Winterisation Cold class notations and will accommodate 25 crew members. Simon Møkster also has the option to build the vessel according to NOFO 2014 standards.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in January 2016. Simon Møksters has a fleet of 23 vessels and approximately 550 employees onshore and offshore.
