Vroon Offshore Services has declared options for two more PX121-type platform supply vessels (PSVs) at the Cosco Guangdong Shipyard, which form a part of the contracts signed earlier in 2013.
Ulstein is to supply the Chinese shipyard with ship design, power and control equipment, and on-site follow-up services for the vessels, which are scheduled for delivery in 2015.
The vessels will have a length of 83.4m, beam of 18m, cargo deck area of 830m² and maximum-draft deadweight of 4,200t.
Intended for operation in European waters, the PSVs accommodate 23 people and have a top speed of 15 knots.
Each ship will be equipped with dynamic positioning system Class II and will be designed to meet ‘Clean Design’ requirements in line with the ABS class.
In addition, the PX121 comes with the iconic ULSTEIN X-BOW that offers efficiency over a wide draught range, which is important for PSVs as they often operate with varying loads.
Ulstein Design & Solutions managing director Sigurd Viseth said, "The PX121 is becoming increasingly attractive to oil companies as it offers a competitive combination of fuel-efficiency and cargo capacities/deadweight.
