The Type 0 ship will be bigger than Dockwise’s largest vessel, the Blue Martin, with a decksize of 275m x 70m.
The Bermuda-based shipping firm is negotiating with leading shipyards for the vessel’s construction, which will be built in the latter part of 2012 at an investment of $200m.
Dockwise intends to raise $100m with a fully committed rights issue to part-finance the newbuild programme.
