Maritime technology provider Alewijnse Marine Systems has secured a contract for the delivery, installation and commissioning of electrical packages for two trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs), which are being built by IHC Merwede for India-based dredging firm DCI.

The TSHDs will have a hopper capacity of 5,500m3 and will be built at an IHC shipyard in the Netherlands.

The first vessel will be delivered in July 2012, while the second ship is expected to be delivered in the following December.

Under the deal, Alewijnse will supply all electrical components for the vessels’ navigation, communications and control systems, according to worldmaritimenews.com.
